Adam Stewart is the CEO of Sandals Resorts International, a position he has held since November 2006. An active and progressive leader, Stewart oversees all areas of operations for the 26-year-old resort empire founded by his legendary father Gordon "Butch" Stewart.
Prior to becoming CEO, Adam was director of resort product, responsible for all on property operations and revenues, including the photo shops, gift boutiques, in-room television system and telephone and internet capabilities across the company's three major brands: Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Royal Plantation. His most recent project has been to spearhead the current, multi-million dollar expansion of Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort & Spa slated to open fall 2008, which, when complete, will boast 180-family suites and the largest waterpark in the Caribbean.
A member of the Sandals Resorts International Executive Committee, Adam Stewart also served as chairman of the Sandals' Youth Committee, inspired by Butch Stewart to head the development of creative approaches to children's facilities at all Beaches Resorts, including youth entertainment, food and programs.
"My father's ability to look at a basic property and turn it into the grandest place to vacation is unmatched within the industry," said Adam Stewart. "I will work to my fullest potential to follow in his footsteps." Recognized for his ability to simplify complex problems and conceptualize winning products, Adam aims to remain above the competition by continuing with the Sandals tradition of elevating industry standards.
Coincidentally, Adam Stewart was born on January 27, 1981, the same year when his father purchased his first hotel and launched Sandals Resorts International which would one day become an empire comprised of 12 Sandals Resorts, four Beaches Resorts and luxury boutique brand, Royal Plantation, across five Caribbean islands.
Adam Stewart was raised in Jamaica and graduated from Florida International University's acclaimed Hospitality Management Program before implementing his knowledge in various departments within Sandals Resorts, from reservations and meetings and incentives to technology and public relations.
"Adam has lived and breathed the industry his entire life. His knowledge and passion for the business have been evident from the very beginning," said the senior Stewart on the appointment of his son. "I look forward to a new era of growth and development for our resort brands with Adam at the helm," added the older Stewart, also known as the "King of All-Inclusive Resorts," the "Cupid of the Caribbean," and the "Master of Marketing", who allows himself to be called 'Butch' by people who know him (or better know him) as the founder and chairman of Sandals Resorts International, or best, the pillar and strength of the Caribbean hotel industry.
