The magnificent Bellingrath Gardens of Theodore, Alabama in United States will be celebrating its 50th anniversary of horticultural creation this fall. The 65-acre flower garden estate is popularly known for its Cascading Mums blossom every fall. The tradition of blooming the beautiful Chrysanthemum flowers started 50 years back when in 1963, the Bellingrath gardens displayed its first lot of splendidly blooming Cascading Mums.
The Cascading Mums are a rare variety of mums flower species that differ significantly from the more commonly found variety of Garden mums. These unusual varieties of mums are seen only in few gardens around the world. The Bellingrath Gardens acquired this special species of mums flower in the early 1960’s from the Longwood Gardens of Kennett Square in Pennsylvania.
Since then, the Bellingrath Gardens have been growing these extraordinarily beautiful flowers every year. The Cascading mums's blossoming period is usually during the fall months of October and November which is also usually the time for the flower exhibit. Every year the Bellingrath Gardens conducts the flower show with great novelty and creativity. This year on the special occasion of its 50th year celebration, the flower estate will present the largest outdoor cascading mums display in the United States.
Therefore, don’t miss the "Parade of Mums" exhibition this fall starting October 28 to November 1, 2013. Visit this wonderful and unique flower show with your friends and family and watch some of the most beautiful displays of more than a hundred of Cascading mums in various floral arrangements.
A second display will be exhibited from November 10 to 17 called the "Mums Bloom Out" that will show the flowers at their peak blossom phase. Visit the exhibition around this time to get a glimpse of some of the most picturesque full-bloomed gorgeous Chrysanthemum flowers. The exhibition will also include a short audio-visual programme on the process of growing mums that will be showed in the Boehm Gallery. River cruise facilities like the Southern Belle and the Kingfisher River cruises are also available for a scenic tour of the beautiful flower estate nestled along the banks of the Fowl River.
