Finca Malvasia is located 10 km north-west of Arrecife Airport, just above the serene hamlet of San Bartolome in central Lanzarote. Four stone built cottages hidden among the volcanic cones of rural Lanzarote, imparts personal vibes. The young, enthusiastic pair, Tarnya and Richard has created this beautiful oasis of tall green cacti, jelly palms, bright pink bougainvillea and spanking clean walls, flanked by nothing but fields of black volcanic ash dotted with vines. The renowned designer Cesar Manrique built the four self-contained cottages in style and they are an exquisite blend of rustic Canarian with funky touches.
Each of the four cottages offers different view over the vineyards, mountains or pool. Though the layout inside the cottages is different, but all of them are equally comfortable. The cottage Papagayo has two double ensuite bedrooms, a splendid living area and a huge, secluded patio. The glazed terracotta floor tiles are adorned with shaggy rugs from Heal’s and the whitewashed rooms are broken up with volcanic stonewalls, illuminated by soft up lighting. The white-stone shelves are admired with a host of audio/visual equipment. The log-burning stoves will warm you up during winter. The bathrooms are equipped with walk-in showers, hand basins and toilets.
The bathroom in the next door cottage Timanfaya is generously spacious. This cottage houses one double room and one twin room, making it ideal for family stay. The cottage La Geria is most spacious due to its end position and the extra windows make the cottage very airy and sunny. It houses one double and one twin room and a shower bathroom. La Bodega is the best cottage for romantic couples. It is the sole detached building, equipped with double room. It also has its own private garden away from the communal pool area.
All cottages feature satellite TV (with English, Spanish and German channels including Sky News, BBC World and News 24, as well as movie and children’s channels), plus DVD and CD players and a selection of films and music. Bathrooms come with thick towels and robes.
All four cottages come with kitchenettes for DIY catering, plus indoor and outdoor dining areas. There are no ovens, but you get a hob, a microwave, a grill, a fridge, a toaster, a kettle and a blender, as well as crockery, cutlery and utensils; the barbecue by the pool can be used for free. Tea, coffee, water and milk are provided. You can also order the breakfast hamper loaded with mostly organic produces (locally baked breads, eggs, preserves and home-grown seasonal fruit like figs and mulberries).
