Table Mountain of Cape Town is now one of the 7 Wonders of Nature

A historical moment took place on December 2, 2012 in South Africa. The Table Mountain was inaugurated as one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature. The official ceremony took place at the foot of mountain this Sunday. After a long wait and continuous voting, finally the South Africans got what they wanted. Table Mountain, becoming a Wonder of the World means its tourism is going to bounce soon. More visitors will now be seen flocking around this place.

Table Mountain offers a fantastic backdrop for the small city of Cape Town. Nature is at its best in this part of the country. The roadway is around the mountains from where you can spot the calm blue sea that follows you while driving. Visitors love to enjoy the unique experience of walking on the flat surface of the mountain. Beautiful panoramic views are available from its top. The Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille is very hopeful, that after the inauguration, the place will receive more of economic and socio-economic benefits to the city.

This natural heritage belongs to all South Africans so a majority of them voted several times to put this wonderful mountain in the coveted list and win the precious accolade. After the voting was over, international audit confirmed the voting results and on that basis the Table Mountain was inaugurated officially as one of new 7 Wonders of Nature. This is the sixth wonder after Puerto Princesa Underground River, the Amazon, Jeju Island, Halong Bay, and Iguazu Falls. The seventh site is Komodo, which is soon going to host its inauguration next year. Table Mountain has already started feeling the economic impact of the accolade. South Africa was always known for the beautiful city of Cape Town, now Table Mountain is added to it. Therefore, more tourists are expected in future.
