Las Vegas - The preferred holiday destination for athletes

It seems that British athletes after finishing their performance are all in a partying mood, as Las Vegas has been revealed as the most sought after holiday destination for most athletes, following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

British Airways, the official airline partner has surveyed a number of Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes about their holiday plans post the sport event and the result revealed that majority of athletes are looking for basking under the sun and fun in Las Vegas, after going through a grueling weeks and months of tight schedules.

The survey found that a good portion of the athletes, around 28 per cent are planning trip to America, with Las Vegas and Orlando, topping their list. The second place is occupied by Spain, with 13 per cent of athletes showing willingness to enjoy a break in the mainland and its exotic islands, with Ibiza topping the list.

According to one of the many athletes called Helen Jenkins, Las Vegas is truly charming with fascinating beaches and the salubrious weather also makes the place more inviting.

Australia, Greece and Thailand, jointly form the third popular destinations, luring athletes to enjoy the sun, spectacular beaches, exciting sports activities, great food and exotic culture. Some other exotic locations included in the list are Cuba, Lithuania and Scotland. A small percent of the athletes are also planning, an active ski or snowboarding holiday.

However, the top destinations selected by Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes, included America, Spain, Greece, Thailand, Australia, France, as well as holidaying in the Maldives.

British Airways realizing the holidaying trend of the athletes is providing a wide range of holidaying options, including short breaks in Barcelona, Seven night holidays in Barbados and three night stay in Las Vegas.

Richard Tams, the Head of Sales of British Airways believes that a minor increase has been noticed this year in the late summer booking, as most vacationers are stayed back at home to encourage athletes during the London 2012 Games.

Those who are looking for a quick break at Spain and Greece can avail some lucrative deals. Holidaymakers, who intend to explore further afield can opt for Mexico this time, though Jamaica is also in party mood, following their significant success in Olympic.
