Costa Rica to play host to the 2012 Medical Travel Summit

The prestigious Medical Travel Summit would be held on April 23-25, 2012, in the capital of San Jose in Costa Rica. This was announced by The Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine, PROMED, which has chosen the venue of this Summit to be Escazu’s Real Intercontinental Hotel. The third Medical Travel Summit that happens annually is set to unfold at the center of the city’s life, as this hotel is surrounded by various options for nightlife fun, shopping and dining of international stature.

The 2012 Medical Travel Summit is being organized by PROMED and Costa Rica Tourism Board, which is expected to break the attendance records of 2011. The previous years saw a visitor’s list that crossed 500 people, who represented about 15 nations of Europe, Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, and North America. According to Massimo Manzi, the Executive Director of PROMED, this event falls into the must attend category for certain people belonging to certain specific sector of work. This includes Medical Tourism Facilitators, International Medical Tourism Companies, Top International Hospitals, US and International Health Insurance Companies, Ministries of Health, Tourism and Economic Development, Surgeons/Physicians/Nurses/Dentists/Healthcare Professionals, Travel Agencies, Self- Insured Company Representatives, US Employers, Marketing Organizations, Tourism Boards, Accreditation Organizations, Airlines, Resorts and Spas, Hotel Chains and Consulting Companies.

This Summit is where all the action takes place about the dealings of the Medical Tourism. All the big names come down here for conceiving new ideas, networking, developing relationships and encouraging medical tourism. However, the Medical Tourism Summit is not only limited to these activities, but also to impart knowledge to the novices of this field. There will be seminars and workshops conducted in this Summit, where most notable regional and international speakers will address the attendees to help them acquire knowledge and understanding about the industry of Medical Tourism. The workshops that would be organized here will comprise of Insurance Billing, International Patient Management, Medical Tourism Marketing, Becoming a Medical Tourism Facilitator, and etc.

The Medical Travel Summit acts as a great platform to exchange and share experiences for the novices, where they get to meet the veterans from countries like Latin America, US and from various parts of the world. As Costa Rica is proving itself to be a great destination in the healthcare world, many corporations of North America are showing interest in the affordable and high quality healthcare facilities of Costa Rica. The Costa Rica healthcare opportunities are gaining importance more due to the problems of the healthcare system in US, which strives provide best facilities at affordable prices. This made the insurance and corporate agencies of the leading nations like US, target alternatives like Costa Rica, whose facilities have marked it to be one of the healthiest countries in the world.

Registration for attending this event starts early from 31 December 2011 at a charge of $300.00 for one person, who are members of PROMED and $350.00 each for non –members. The registration fee however increases by $ 100.00 when one registers between the months of 1st January – 23rd April 2012. This is applicable for both members and non- members.
